Lumps & Bumps on your Pets.
Here in Ark Vets we very frequently get clients phoning the clinic to say that they’ve found a lump on their pet and if they should be concerned . Our advice would be regardless of your pets age and no matter how healthy you may think your pet is , you should have them checked over by a vet.
We’ve no way of determining whether a lump is benign or malignant by just looking at it . Our vets may carry out in house tests or send a biopsy off to an external lab to determine the best treatment for your pet.
Recently we had an 18 month old Jack Russel Terrier in the clinic who presented with a lump . She was in to get her nails clipped and one of the nurses noticed the lump. The owner immediately made an appointment with the vet to have it checked. She was admitted to the clinic the following day for in house tests and biopsies were taken and sent to an external lab.
Results revealed that the lump was malignant . The lump was removed and she received the relevant treatment and has now thankfully made a full recovery .
